Sporting de Gijon vs Getafe preview - Preciado acknowledges Getafe threat

I have a say

Sporting Gijon have recovered from an awful start to the season and are currently on a four-game unbeaten run, but manager Manuel Preciado is wary that Sunday's opponents Getafe are also approaching their best form.

Both sides are perched just above the relegation zone, but Preciado does not believe the match can be described as a relegation six-pointer so early in the season.

He told the club's website: "They (Getafe) have grown a lot.

"There is talk of them signing (Jose Manuel) Jurado, they have already brought in Dani Guiza, Diego Castro and Michel, so they are a side with great potential.

"To lose wouldn't be deadly although we have to realise that this is a very important match."

Preciado will have a fully-fit squad to choose from after Diego Barral, Nacho Cases and Alberto Lora were declared fit.

Getafe produced a stunning fightback to defeat Atletico Madrid 3-2 last time out, despite being a goal and a man down within half an hour.

And manager Luis Garcia has said he wants to see his side perform like they did in that match on a more regular basis.

He told a press conference broadcast on the club's website: "I want to see the Getafe of the last game against Atletico Madrid.

"We have to be more consistent, maintain our intensity and go out there to stay ahead of Sporting in the table."

Alberto Lopo is suspended after his red card against Atletico, while Pedro Leon, Jaime Gavilan and Oscar Ustari all remain out injured.

However, Diego Castro should shake off an ankle injury to start against his former side.
