NEW STYLE NEEDED ... for now-slower Ferdinand
ALEX FERGUSON wants to keep Rio Ferdinand — but has told the defender: You'll have to change your game.
Ferdinand is struggling with form and fitness and was left out of England's squad for last month's Euro 2012 qualifiers.
Fergie believes the centre-back, 32, has lost a yard of pace and is facing hot competiion from Phil Jones and Chris Smalling for a place alongside fit-again Nemanja Vidic.
The Manchester United boss said: "Rio is almost 33 and has obviously lost the yard of pace he had five years ago.
"He has to tailor his game a different way, he cannot rely on his pace any more.
"We have all faced that decisive moment in your career when you have to realise you have to change your game. I had to do it myself when I lost my sharpness and if Rio does the same he will be fine."
