MIDDLESBROUGH, England - Sunderland defender Titus Bramble was charged Friday with two counts of sexual assault and ordered to appear in court next month.
Police also charged Bramble with urinating in a public place.
The 30-year-old player will appear at Teeside Magistrates' Court in Middlesbrough on Nov. 10.
Bramble was arrested in the early hours of Sept. 28 in Cleveland, outside Middlesbrough, on suspicion of sexual assault and drug possession. He was arrested again on Oct. 14 after a second sexual assault allegation was made.
The drug charge was dropped.
Bramble had already been suspended by Sunderland pending a club investigation.
"My client vehemently denies these charges and will be vigorously contesting them," Bramble's lawyer, Phil Smith, said.
Bramble has also played for Wigan and England's Under-21 team.
