Guardiola denies Yaya Toure claims

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has refuted Yaya Toure's allegations of being ignored, adding that he even tried to convince Toure to stay at Nou Camp.

Toure earlier claimed that he left Barcelona due to a difficult relationship with Guardiola.

However, Guardiola has stepped up to deny the claims, making clear that he has always tried to foster a strong relationship with his players using an open-door policy.

Guardiola said on AS: "There's not much to say about this matter. I talk to anyone and the doors to my office and house are always open for the players,

"The truth is that he asked [club president Joan] Laporta to leave. We even tried to convince him to stay put. I will speak to him the next time we meet."

The Cote d'Ivoire international joined Manchester City in July 2010 for a fee of £28million, earning £185000 a week. He has won the FA Cup in his debut season.
