DAVID MOYES reckons Jack Rodwell’s Mersey derby red-card agony could be the making of him.
Everton boss David Moyes feared Rodwell’s confidence would be seriously dented after being wrongly sent off in Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Goodison on October 1.
But Moyes believes Rodwell, 20, has actually become a better player since Martin Atkinson showed him a red card, which was later rescinded.
Moyes, who is set to start with midfielder Rodwell against Chelsea in tonight’s Carling Cup fourth-round tie at Goodison Park, said: “His tackling in training and the way he’s gone about things since has improved.
“The backing he has got from everybody, to show his tackle was a good tackle, has actually helped him.
“I think he’s beginning to believe a bit more. He’s beginning to understand a bit more about what is expected as well.”
