McKinlay is still struggling with a shoulder problem, while McHale remains sidelined with a foot injury.

Assistant manager Kevin McGoldrick, whose side have won their last four games at Ochilview, said: "Brechin are one of the clubs expected to be challenging for promotion and will go on a run up the table soon.

"The bigger the gap we have on them before they do that the better our season will be, so this would be a tremendous game to win.

"We played well at home last week to defeat Dumbarton and will need that level of performance and effort to win this one."

Brechin boss Jim Weir is looking for the return of energetic midfielder Craig Molloy to give his faltering side a lift.

Molloy, sidelined for six weeks with a groin problem, will go straight back into the starting line-up, but striker Jim Lister is suspended.

Weir said: "We have made a disappointing start to the league this season, but we did beat Stenhousemuir in one of the early league games and it would be great to repeat that.

"They have been fantastic so far and will be a side that challenges for promotion this season, so we need to get the three points and move closer to them."
