Readers slam Manchester United doughnut nicker after Tesco let-off

SUN readers let rip yesterday after Tesco bosses let off doughnut-nicking goalie David de Gea.
The super-rich Manchester United star was given a yellow card for scoffing a £1.19 Krispy Kreme treat in a store then apparently attempting to leave without paying.
But our YourView online forum went into meltdown — with people saying the sticky-fingered Spaniard should have been handed to cops. Yomomma77 quipped: "I'm surprised he wasn't taken into custard(y)".
De Gea was last night set to face Premier League rivals Norwich today at home. And another reader commented: "Wouldn't it be terrible if the Norwich fans bring doughnuts to Old Trafford and throw them on the pitch?"
But last night a United spokesman said: "Anyone who throws a doughnut at the pitch will be ejected from the ground."
The Sun told yesterday how new £18million signing de Gea, 20, escaped with just a "stern talking to" after being caught on CCTV at the Tesco in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
Your Views user daverock wrote: "Why should he thieve, and get off?? Should have been a red card at least." Greavesie said: "Anyone else would be hauled before the courts" — while Mann21 threatened: "Right, I'm going to do the same and see what happens."
Others pointed out that looters during the riots in Manchester were locked up for similar crimes.
Last month Thomas Downey, 48, got 16 MONTHS for helping himself to doughnuts from a Krispy Kreme store.
Last night a Tesco spokesman refused to comment on the incident with de Gea, simply saying: "The issue was resolved."
