Palacio: In the thick of the action for Genoa in Serie A
Genoa striker Rodrigo Palacio has extended his contract by a year with the club after his proposed move to Inter Milan fell through.
The 29-year-old had been all geared up to join Inter but on deadline day they switched their attentions to Mauro Zarate who they opted to sign from Lazio.
Genoa president Enrico Preziosi said: "We have extended Rodrigo's contract for another year and have increased his wages.
"It is a sacrifice that we have done willingly because the player had been approached by many important teams throughout the transfer market."
Palacio joined the Serie A club two years ago from Argentinian giants Boca Juniors but his new deal will see him remain in Italy until June 2014.
