Bundesliga club Augsburg says new signing Dawda Bah faces at least six months out with a knee injury.

Augsburg says the Gambia striker underwent surgery after “severe bone and soft tissue damage” to his left knee in training on Wednesday.

Augsburg general manager Andreas Rettig says “this is particularly bitter for Dawda. He and we imagined a different start for him at Augsburg.”

Bah was signed from HJK Helsinki two days before the transfer window closed. The 27-year-old Bah made his Augsburg debut last weekend, when he played 13 minutes against Bayer Leverkusen.
