SUNSPORT assesses how mega-spenders Man City will fare in their first Champions League season — after they opened with a 1-1 home draw with Napoli.
Where are they strong?
PRETTY much everywhere — Roberto Mancini's squad is envied across Europe.
Look at who did not start tonight — Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli, Nigel de Jong, Adam Johnson, James Milner.
His options in midfield and up front are mind-boggling. Expect them to be full of goals now that the boss has thrown off the shackles.
What about weaknesses?
SOME City fans would have liked to see them buy another top class centre-half.
Vincent Kompany is a class act and Joleon Lescott is vastly improved. But how would they cope with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo?
Kolo Toure has to prove himself again and little is known about Stefan Savic.
Could they really beat Barcelona?
THE Catalans did not fancy drawing them in the group stage — that's for sure.
But Mancini was quick to pour cold water on the idea when asked on Saturday, insisting everyone was getting ahead of themselves.
Former Barca star Yaya Toure says it will not be long though — and he should know. But give it time.
Can they control so many egos?
MANCINI is convinced he will need all his players now that the Champions League is up and running.
It is becoming fairly clear what he considers to be his strongest team though — and big-name players are going to be disappointed.
But the Italian has a pretty big ego himself and will not worry about upsetting people.
