Airdrie United 4 - 0 Albion Rovers FC - Joy for four-star Airdrie
Posted Saturday, September 10, 2011 by PA
Airdrie pulled off a first-half demolition of Albion to leapfrog their opponents with a 4-0 win.
Sean Lynch opened the scoring inside the first 10 minutes with a close-range finish.
Ryan Donnelly doubled Airdrie's lead just two minutes later following good work from David Lilley.
Albion remained under constant pressure from the home side, with Airdrie clearly the more hungry to work their way up the table.
A foul by Alan Reid on Jamie Bain gave Airdrie a penalty, which Jamie Stevenson promptly converted.
And the home side completed the rout just before half-time, with Stevenson setting up Donnelly for his second of the match.
