Mourinho optimistic Real Madrid squad will need no new signings

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho this Friday said that he hoped he would not have to buy any further players when the transfer window opens again at the end of December.

Real Madrid had a busy summer, bringing Nuri Sahon, Hamit Altintop, Javier Callejon, Rafael Varene and Fabio Coentrao into the club. However, Sahin will be out for a further two months with a troublesome knee problem, while Altintop is also sidelined following a back operation.

So far the only player to have made an impact in the first team is Coentrao, who has played in central midfield, but despite the relative disappointment of the signings, Mourinho insists that he is not expecting to return to the transfer market in the New Year.

"I can't control destiny, injuries or problems between now and the end of January, but I would prefer not to sign anyone else, because if that is the case, it means that we have not had any problems or injuries," said Mourinho in his conference ahead of Saturday's league game at home to Getafe.

"If we don't sign anyone, it would mean that we have a balanced squad with a present and a future," said Mourinho, who denied all knowledge of interest in Brazilian striker, Neymar.

Mourinho's side is destined to battle for the league title against bitter rivals, FC Barcelona and he admitted his side had high ambitions for the recently inaugurated season.

"We have high aims, whatever people say, this is the best club in the history of football and the best club in the world, it is normal that we have ambition and responsibility," said the Real Madrid coach.

Mourinho insisted that he had confidence in striker Gonzalo Higuain, who has lost his first team place to Karim Benzema, and said that he was pleased that the recent internationals had been played on Tuesday rather than Wednesday night, as it allowed his side an extra 24 hours to prepare for the weekend.
