Napoli vs Genoa preview - Cavani: We can win title

Napoli go into their match at Cesena determined to prove they are serious contenders for the Serie A title this season.

The Naples outfit have kept hold of big names Edinson Cavani and Marek Hamsik this summer despite interest from other clubs in both players.

Napoli have also strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Gokhan Inler from Udinese and Goran Pandev from Inter Milan this summer.

"Some important players have arrived at the club over the summer," said Cavani. "The president (Aurelio De Laurentiis) and the coach (Walter Mazzarri) acted well during the transfer window."

Cavani scored 26 goals in 35 games last season to help Napoli finished third and qualify for the Champions League.

And after winning the Copa America with Uruguay this summer, the 24-year-old forward is determined to help Napoli win some silverware this term.

"We have everything required to compete for titles," said Cavani, whose side take on Manchester City next week in their Champions League opener in Group A. "And with our fans, it will be impossible not to do well."

Opponents Cesena are well aware of the challenge they face against Napoli.

The Cavallucci Marini ended an almost two-decade spell outside Serie A when they were promoted to the top tier 12 months ago and avoided the drop at the first time of asking.

"We must play the perfect game against Napoli in order to win," said midfielder Marco Parolo.

"There is a lot of enthusiasm in the city ahead of our opening game and we hope the fans will play a big part in helping us achieve our aim, which is to defend our Serie A status."

Marco Giampaolo's side bolstered their attacking line by signing Romanian forward Adrian Mutu from Fiorentina this summer.

Mutu is expected to lead Cesena's attack alongside Citadin Eder and Abdel Ghezzal.
