Everton loanee Royston Drenthe has criticized the frequent nature in which Real Madrid changed coaches while he was at the club.

The Dutchman was shipped out on loan to the Premier League outfit on the last day of the transfer window after he was forced to train separately from Madrid's first team in the summer.

The 24-year-old has now blamed Madrid's top brass for falling behind Barcelona, having watched the Catalan club take the spotlight during his time in Spain.

"Real Madrid had one of the best teams in the world, with a mixture of young and veteran players," Drenthe said at his presentation. "We were better than Barcelona, but the team fell apart and the situation changed."

"They changed coaches [Bernd Schuster] and then they did it again and again. They change coaches like people eat chocolates, that is what happens at Real Madrid, although I learned a lot there."

The Dutch winger then spoke of his delight at joining Everton and praised the Premier League.

"I am very happy to have taken this step, because it is very important for me," Drenthe added.

"The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. Spanish football is very good, but the same teams always win, Barcelona or Madrid. Here, it is different, you can never be sure which team will win."
