Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has confirmed that he will be out of action for a further two to three months" with an ankle injury.

The England international is yet to feature for the Gunners this term after picking up the injury during preseason.

"I can confirm I will be out for around 2-3 months! I am working hard in the gym to stay fit and I am gutted but I will be back stronger" said Wilshere on his official Twitter account.

The midfielder is wearing a surgical boot as he looks to recover from the injury, but is now not expected to resume light training until October.

Arsenal and England teammate Theo Walcott is disappointed with the 19-year-old's injury problems and hopes he will be able to return sooner than anticipated.

"Jack’s a very important player for us," said Walcott at an England press conferce this week. "It’s a shame he’s had this ankle problem, but he’ll be back as soon as he can. Fingers crossed it will be a bit sooner than that [another two months], we’re going to miss him but he’s professional enough to get on with it."
