Arbroath 3 : 0 East Fife - Doris double downs Fifers
Posted Saturday, August 20, 2011 by PA
A Steven Doris double and another goal from Gavin Swankie helped Arbroath continue their excellent home form with a 3-0 win over East Fife.
Midfielder Swankie picked up a pass from Lee Sibanda and squeezed a right-footed drive into the bottom corner from 25 yards out to open the scoring in the 28th minute.
Sibanda then fed his strike partner Doris to coolly slot home from 12 yards out in the 69th minute.
Doris was presented with a chance to grab his second and the home side's third after the inspirational Sibanda was brought down in the penalty box.
The 23-year-old, who scored 22 league goals last term, again opted for a placed finish and converted his spot-kick to complete a miserable afternoon for the visitors.
