Marseille, Lille and Paris Saint-Germain are still chasing their first wins in the French league after disappointing results in the first two rounds.
Marseille has drawn its first two matches and hopes to have fixed its defensive frailties on Sunday when it hosts a Saint-Etienne side that has a perfect record after two games.
Marseille midfielder Alou Diarra says his team “lacks efficiency defensively” and must “show more focus and more rigor” to “correct those lapses of concentration.”
Marseille has already conceded eight goals in three matches.
Big-spending PSG and defending champion Lille both have one point from their first two matches.
