Sporting Kansas City defender Daneil Cyrus out for the season

Sporting Kansas City central defender Daneil Cyrus will miss the rest of the 2011 season after suffering a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot during the team’s Reserve League match on Monday. Cyrus will require surgery and is expected to be out for four months.
Cyrus was signed by Sporting Kansas City in July and made five appearances in all competitions for the club, including two MLS matches.
The club's depth at defense will be tested with this injury, as normal starting center-back Aurelien Collin will likely miss the rest of August with a back injury. Shavar Thomas, who has made just three appearances this season, could be asked to step into the back-line.
Sporting just saw its 14-match unbeaten streak snapped this weekend at home against the Seattle Sounders
