Forfar will be without suspended midfielder Martyn Fotheringham as they open their league season against relegated Cowdenbeath at Station Park.

Midfielder Iain Campbell looks set to win his fitness race and be included in manager Dick Campbell's plans after missing out in cup ties against Buckie Thistle and Peterhead.

Campbell said: "I believed I strengthened the squad over the summer and this will be the first real test of that being the case. The team played really well against Peterhead last Saturday so I am not contemplating too many changes although it will be good to have Iain available again.

"Cowdenbeath will be coming here looking to throw down a marker to the rest of the Second Division and it is our job to throw down a marker of our own."

Fit-again Cowdenbeath duo John Armstrong and Marc McKenzie look set to start their first game of the season at Forfar.

Armstrong and McKenzie both started a Fife Cup tie in midweek after injury and are in manager Colin Cameron's plans to face the Loons as injury continues to rule out Thomas O'Brien, Dene Droudge and Danny Mackay.

Cameron knows his men need to deliver an impressive display to pick up the three points.

"Forfar played really well in beating Peterhead last Saturday so we know that we have to deliver a strong performance to take anything from this game," he said. "They are a big side who do really well at set-pieces so we need to be on our guard."
