Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is reportedly set to confirm the signing of Chile and Udinese star Alexis Sanchez in Argentina, taking advantage of an invitation to the opening ceremony of the Copa America on Friday.
Triunfo and La Tercera report that, following Roja coach Claudio Borghi's refusal to let Sanchez leave the national team camp to complete a 40 million euros transfer, the Barca chief will now travel across the Atlantic in order to put an end to the drawn-out negotiations.
Rosell will attend Argentina's first match with Bolivia in La Plata this Friday, and will then travel to the Chile training camp in order to formally agree terms with the 22-year-old striker.
Barca was forced into action when Borghi flatly ruled out any prospect of his star traveling to meet with officials in the Spanish club. "Alexis cannot now leave. The deadline was Sunday," he told local press earlier in the week.
Chile kicks off its Copa America campaign against Mexico in Group C, before facing Uruguay and Peru in the first round of next month's competition.
