Corinthians striker Liedson scored a hat trick as Corinthians routed 10-man Sao Paulo 5-0 on Sunday, halting its rival’s perfect start in the Brazilian league.
Sao Paulo had won all previous five matches but it struggled after midfielder Carlinhos Paraiba was sent off in the 40th minute for receiving a second yellow card.
Playmaker Danilo opened the scoring in the 47th minute and former Sporting striker Liedson extended the lead with goals in the 54th, 61st and 80th. Midfielder Jorge Henrique sealed the win with a long-range shot in the 84th.
On Saturday, Ronaldinho scored to help Flamengo rally to a 4-1 win over Atletico Mineiro, and Argentine playmaker Walter Montillo scored twice to lead Cruzeiro to a 2-1 win over Coritiba.
