CESC FABREGAS is willing tosacrifice a £5million windfall to secure his dream move to Barcelona.
The midfielder has a clause in his Arsenal contract that entitles him to 15 per cent of the cash from any move away from the Emirates.
The Gunners are desperate to keep their inspirational skipper and this week turned down a £27m bid.
But Barca are set to return with animproved offer that could be as high as £33m – with Fabregas giving up his £5m share to force through the transfer. Fabregas is keen to leave Arsenal on good terms after eight years in north London and hopes his gesture will oil the wheels on a move back to his boyhood club.
The Gunners have valued the 24-year-old Spaniard at £44m but hamstring injuries have hampered him over the past two years – and there are concerns that his value could dip considerably if he continues to struggle for fitness next season.
Fabregas is trying to stay out of the limelight, scrapping a holiday in Ibiza with close pals Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol, while Barcelona work on completing a deal before their self-imposed deadline of July 5.
A Spanish source said : “The fact Arsenal are studying offers is a good sign.”
Barca will offer Fabregas a five-year deal, with an option to extend it further.
