ARSENAL expect to clinch a £12million deal for Lille striker Gervinho in the next few days.

Gunners are close to thrashing out a deal with the French club over their Ivory Coast ace.

And boss Arsene Wenger is confident Gervinho, 24, will be at the Emirates for the start of pre-season training on Monday week.

Lille have already rejected £10.5m bids from Arsenal and Tottenham, while Paris St Germain made a late player-plus-cash bid.

But general manager Frederic Pacquet admitted: "Gervinho wants to go to England and as a club we prefer to sell him abroad rather than to one of our rivals in France."
