Inter Milan have edged ahead of Chelsea in the race for Kaka, according to reports in Italy.
The Brazil superstar, who has struggled to find his best form since his £56m move to Real Madrid two years ago, has been linked with a move away this summer.
And Chelsea are understood to be among a clutch of elite clubs keen on signing the talented playmaker, 29.
But it has now been reported that the former AC Milan man could be set for a return to Milan, with the Rossoneri's arch rivals Inter.
Gazzetta Dello Sport has suggested that Inter are willing to offer Maicon in a part-exchange deal for Kaka, which could appeal to Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager is understood to be in the market for a right-back so he can move Sergio Ramos into central defence.
