I have a say

ROME (AFP) - Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel admitted on Friday he is hoping for an extended stay in Milan.

The veteran former Barcelona and Bayern Munich player joined the club in January on a six-month deal and has been a near ever-present since then.

And apart from his difficulties at times in adapting to the stringent refereeing in Italy, van Bommel says he enjoys it here.

"The Italian league is a great league and it's very entertaining," he told a football website in Italy.

"I feel great at Milan but it's not up to me, it's up to the club. If they ask me to stay I won't know how to say no."

The 34-year-old began his career at Fortuna Sittard in 1992 before moving on to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

He joined Barcelona in 2005 and won the Champions League in his one season there.

However, he couldn't hold down a regular first team place and moved on to Bayern at the end of that campaign.
