Queen's Park 1 : 1 Albion Rovers FC - Chaplain snatches draw for Albion
Posted Wednesday, May 11, 2011 by PA
Scott Chaplain's late strike earned Albion a 1-1 draw against Queens Park in the first leg of their Second Division play-off semi-final.
Chaplain cancelled out Craig Smith's opener to leave the tie finely poised heading into the second leg.
Smith gave Queens Park the lead after 11 minutes when he converted David Anderson's cross from close range.
Albion almost responded but Robert Love's shot was brilliantly tipped around the post by Adam Strain.
John Gemmell saw his 25-yard strike parried to safety by Strain before Steven Canning's spectacular 20-yard strike hit the post after 71 minutes as the visitors looked for an equaliser.
However, Albion did get their reward in the 80th minute when Chaplain scored from close range to salvage a draw.
