AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been banned for three domestic games after swearing at a linesman.

Ibrahimovic: Banned for three matches

The Swedish striker was sent off during Sunday's Serie A victory over Fiorentina, his second red card in as many appearances for the Rossoneri.

Ibrahimovic had just returned from a two-match ban for striking an opponent in his previous outing and claims his remarks against the Viola were directed towards himself, not the assistant. However, the Italian league said in a statement the sanction was for an 'offensive remark'.

Angry

Ibrahimovic said: "I was angry with myself after losing possession.

"I made a comment to myself - it was not directed at the referee or his assistant.

"I ask for forgiveness from everyone. I left the pitch without making a scene.

"I was looking at the officials as they were in front of me, and I did not have a gripe with him.

"It was not the best time to be getting a red card, as I was returning from a suspension."

Meanwhile, veteran Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf has revealed that the club have yet to offer him a new contract.

The 35-year-old will be a free agent in the summer and while there are offers from elsewhere, he is waiting to see what Milan bring to the table.

"I am hearing a lot of rumours," Seedorf said.

"I am awaiting an offer from Milan, as there are some concrete offers on the table from Brazil as well as other clubs.

Focus

"But my focus right now is on the Scudetto, only then, I will think about my future."

On the victory over Fiorentina, he added: "We knew the importance of the match at Fiorentina and we prepared well.

"These are the matches that one needs to win and we did that."
