Paul McLean's comeback from a hamstring injury was halted in the warm-up for Saturday's game against East Fife and he is a doubt for Brechin`s clash with third-placed Ayr.

Charlie King remains sidelined, while Craig Molloy misses out through suspension following his red card at the weekend.

Boss Jim Weir is looking for his men to secure three of the five points he feels are needed to secure a play-off spot.

He said: "I want the points on board as soon as possible, but Ayr had a great result at the weekend when they defeated Forfar.

"They will be keen to jump over us in the table so we will have to play well to get the first points I`m after."

Ayr have injury and suspension problems to contend with as go in search of the win that would lift them into second place.

Martyn Campbell is banned, Scott McLaughlin and Dean Keenan are out injured and Jim Lachlan is a doubt.

Manager Brian Reid was delighted with his side's first victory in six games - a 3-1 win against Forfar - as he said: "Our form has continued to be good but we scored at the weekend and that made all the difference.

"It was a great boost for everyone to finally get the result they deserved."

Reid added: "We have six games left and I want us to secure a play-off place, get some momentum behind us and then enter the end of the season full of confidence."
