Ronaldo 'will be fit' for Spurs

Jose Mourinho has told Spanish media that injured Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo should be ready for their Champions League quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Ronaldo suffered a hamstring injury in the Madrid derby at the weekend - which Real won 2-1.

Early indications had been that Ronaldo would sit out for two to three weeks to recover, making him unlikely to be back in time to play in the first leg of against Spurs at the Bernabeu.

Mourinho is quoted in AS, however, saying that his star player's recovery is going well.

"I think that he will be able to play against Tottenham," he said.

"We don't have a match this weekend and that will allow him to recover.

"I don't think that he can play against Sporting [Gijon, in La Liga on April 2]. If he can, I will not risk anything because I want him to be well for the Champions League game.

"We are hoping and wanting that he is in back in top form against Tottenham."
