Airdrie have bolstered their squad ahead of the visit of Ayr United by signing former Dundee United and Ross County midfielder Grant Smith and Kilmarnock youngster Graeme Owens.

Defender Kieron Stallard will miss out through suspension, but midfield playmaker Ryan McCord is available after a ban.

The Diamonds have won their last two games, but manager Jimmy Boyle said: "Two wins and two clean sheets has been excellent but Ayr are coming here hurting after a poor result at Stenhousemuir.

"They are a very good side so we need to be prepared for any backlash from them for their midweek disappointment."

Ayr United are hoping that Willie Easton and Ryan McCann can shake off illness and injury respectively to start.

Dean Keenan and Bobby Donnelly remain sidelined and they have been joined on the sidelines by back-up goalkeeper Ryan McWilliams.

Manager Brian Reid has let trialist Darren McLean leave after he featured in the maximum permitted three games.

Reid said: "The two sides know each other really well and the games between us are usually feisty affairs and hopefully that is all the motivation we will need to get going again."
