Real Sociedad 1 - 1 Levante - Del Horno leaves it late

Asier Del Horno struck an equaliser 13 minutes from time to earn a 1-1 draw for Levante at Real Sociedad.

David Zurutuza`s goal after a mundane first half looked to have given Sociedad all three points at San Sebastian.

But former Chelsea left-back Del Horno slammed home from 25 yards to give his side a point they had seldom looked like winning.

Sociedad`s Mikel Aranburu had the first chance of the game, driving over from the edge of the box after Antoine Griezmann`s corner was not cleared.

Daniel Estrada then took aim from a similar distance as Sociedad pressed, but the tightness of the respective defences meant that genuine chances were hard to come by.

Diego Rivas tried his luck from distance for the home team, with Gomez Juanlu doing the same at the other end.

Griezmann then managed to fashion a clear-cut opportunity, but snapped wide from six yards, before placing an effort away from the goal from just inside the box.

Sociedad had enjoyed the better of the possession in the first half and they broke the deadlock eight minutes after the interval.

Aranburu picked a pass out for Zurutuza, and the midfielder did the rest, slotting home from the edge of the box.

Levante`s response was not immediate, but when it came Jefferson Montero fired wide from inside the six-yard box, while Imanol Agirretxe drove over the bar for Sociedad.

After all the speculative strikes the two sides had traded, one was bound to find the target at some point, and so it proved when Del Horno unleashed a left-footed drive from way outside the box to pull his side level.

Neither side looked like snatching a winner after that, although Jon Ansotegui did glance a header over for Sociedad deep into injury time.
