Brechin City 1 : 0 Livingston - Brechin throw title race wide open
Posted Tuesday, February 22, 2011 by PA
Second-placed Brechin closed the gap on table-topping opponents Livingston to eight points courtesy of a 1-0 win at Glebe Park.
Craig Malloy netted the only goal of the game in the 87th minute when he latched onto a Rory McAllister pass before slotting into the bottom corner.
Livingston midfielder Kyle Jacobs had the first real opening of the game in the 27th minute, but his long-range effort was tipped over by home goalkeeper Craig Nelson.
Jacobs and striker Kenny Deuchar had further half-chances but could not find a breakthrough before Malloy's late winner.
The win gives City, who have two games in hand on their title rivals, a huge boost going into the business end of the season.
