DEREK HOUGH is a bit of a wet trump. He planned this week's surprise visit to CHERYL COLE in a bid to save their struggling relationship.

To make matters worse, he did it on the advice of her mum.

That sounds like a good reason to show him the red card if you ask me. Soft lad.

The dancer arrived on a flight to London late on Thursday after speaking to Cheryl's mum Joan.

Desbox has been concerned about the state of Cheryl's feelings for him since she failed to reply to his Valentine's Day message. A source said: "He arranged the whole thing with Joan and she suggested speaking to Cheryl face to face.

"She said her daughter has been down and confused lately."

According to pals, Dezza has been fretting that the Geordie is no longer interested in him.

He's hoping the trip will help him figure out why things have fizzled out between them.

The source added: "He said she seemed really happy to see him but couldn't tell what was going on in her head and seemed far less touchy-feely than when they went to South Africa.

"He is going to have a heart-to-heart with her. He's half dreading it as he doesn't want to hear the worst. But part of him just needs to know where he stands."

The Yank is pulling out all of the stops. He has planned two days of long walks and is cooking special food to cheer her up. His chips and gravy had better be up to scratch.
