Dumbarton claim crucial win

Posted Tuesday, February 15, 2011 by PA

Dumbarton eased their relegation worries with a 3-1 win at fellow strugglers East Fife.

The Sons took the lead after 17 minutes, Annan loanee Patrick Walker scoring his sixth goal in 10 games from 20 yards.

It was 2-0 six minutes later as on-loan Alloa man Mark Gilhaney netted his fifth of the season from 12 yards.

Matthew Park, making his first start for the club, pulled one back for the Fifers one minute before half-time from inside the box.

But the away side restored their two-goal advantage 10 minutes after the break when Andrew Geggan converted from Walker's cross.

East Fife could have set up a frantic finish but Dumbarton goalkeeper Stephen Grindley saved Robert Linn's late penalty.
