Ash will smash England record

ASHLEY COLE will tonight become England's most-capped full-back.

The Chelsea star is in line for his 87th appearance to overtake Kenny Sansom's record.

Cole, 30, who made his debut against Albania in 2001, now has his sights set on reaching 100 caps.

He said: "For me it's going to be a normal game but, of course, in the back of my mind I'll think 'yeah, I broke the record'.

"But I don't want to stop here, I want to get more caps. I've missed a lot of games through injury so maybe I would have hit around 90 by now. To play for your country is a dream as a kid and I've done it 86 times.

"I just want to keep playing as many games as I can until the manager doesn't think I'm good enough to play or it's time for a younger one to come in and play. I'm never going to give up or retire.

"Hopefully, one day someone like Kieran Gibbs will get a chance. I don't want to block players like that, he's a great young player coming through.

"I remember seeing Kenny Sansom in my early days at Arsenal. He used to say to me 'one day you will hopefully break my record'."
