Chelsea stars are as sick as a Drog

DIDIER DROGBA says he has never known such a miserable mood at Chelsea after Liverpool extinguished their last hope of retaining the Premier League title.

The Ivory Coast striker declares that Kenny Dalglish's men "cut our legs away" when they won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

And Drogba admits that everyone at the club is struggling to come to terms with being also-rans.

He admitted: "I am finding this bad spell hard to live with - and I am not the only one.

"The whole squad is suffering because you have to remember that no one at Chelsea is accustomed to losing so many matches.

"Carlo Ancelotti has not been happy with us in recent weeks and all the injuries, the poor results and the lack of goals have created a bad mood around the place.

"For my own part, my performances this season have suffered because of injuries and because of the malaria I contracted at the end of last year."

Chelsea remain 10 points behind League leaders Manchester United following Sunday's defeat.

But it was the end of the team's mini-revival which has caused the most damage according to Drogba.

He said: "We had won our previous three Premier League games - against Blackburn, Bolton and Sunderland - and we were beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

"But the defeat by Liverpool has cut our legs away and seriously damaged our chances of winning the League title again.

"It is going to be difficult for us to catch up with Manchester United now."

Yet at least Drogba is optimistic that he can forge a fearsome partnership with Fernando Torres despite the £50million newcomer's dismal debut against former club Liverpool.

Drogba said: "Fernando is such a talented player and he will be very important for our team.

"It was difficult for him emotionally to be playing his first game against his former team-mates.

"But his arrival means we have a lot of competition for places in attack and that can only be good for Chelsea because that factor has helped us win many trophies over the last few years."
