Getafe vs Deportivo La Coruna preview - Sanchez wants reaction

Getafe midfielder Victor Sanchez admits another defeat for Michel's struggling side against Deportivo La Coruna this weekend will leave them looking nervously over their shoulders.

Getafe ended 2010 in fine form with six wins and two draws from their final eight league and cup games, but since the turn of the year they have not managed a single victory and have lost five of their six fixtures.

That poor form has seen Getafe knocked out of the Copa del Rey and slip down to 10th in the Primera Division standings, eight points off the European places and nine above the relegation zone.

Michel's men are still in a relative safe position but Sanchez knows from experience how teams in serious relegation trouble can lift their form in the second half of the season.

Last term, Sanchez was on loan at Xerez who, after picking up just one win and eight points in the first half of the campaign, looked a completely different side in their final 19 games, when they claimed another seven wins and 26 points.

That was not enough to save Xerez from an immediate return to the Segunda Division, but proved enough for Sanchez to be wary about the sides below Getafe in the table.

"We have a good cushion of points, but we need to react soon because those below are starting to win and pick up points, as we are seeing with teams like Zaragoza and Almeria," the on-loan Barcelona man said.

"If we lose on Saturday we will be looking down instead of up."

Depor ended a run of three successive defeats with a creditable 3-3 draw at home to Sevilla last time out, leaving Miguel Angel Lotina's men in 14th spot, four points above the drop zone.

Looking ahead to the match, striker Adrian Lopez said: "Getafe are a dangerous team and we will have to be at our best to get the three points."
