Marino: We can't get over-confident

Parma coach Pasquale Marino has warned his side not to become over-confident ahead of their trip to the Luigi Ferraris stadium to face strugglers Genoa.

Marino's men produced a solid performance to beat Catania 2-0 last weekend.

Having lost their previous two games, the Gialloblu clinched three vital points courtesy of goals from Antonio Candreva and Sebastian Giovinco.

The outcome lifted Parma six points clear of the drop zone after 21 games played.

Parma did, however, suffer a reverse in midweek after losing on penalties to Palermo to crash out of the Coppa Italia.

"When it goes to penalties we all know it is a lottery," Marino said. "But we cannot be depleted because my team played a great game and that gives me confidence ahead of our match at Genoa.

"But we must remember that we lost our previous two games and hence, we cannot get carried away.

"Our task is to take to the field with the same mentality we demonstrated against Catania and Palermo."

Heading into Sunday's match, the mood in the Genoa camp is sombre with the Grifoni having failed to win at home since November 10th.

Moreover, Davide Ballardini's men have collected just three points in their last five games.

Last weekend's goalless draw at Chievo dropped Genoa to 15th in the standings, five points clear of the drop zone.

The arrival of Abdoulay Konko this week after completing his switch from Sevilla is a consolation for Ballardini.

The 26-year-old right-back has rejoined the squad having played for the Grifoni in the 2007-08 season.

Konko is fired up to give an immediate contribution to Genoa.

"I missed the Serie A," said Konko. "I want to give my best to help Genoa climb up in the standings."

Genoa's main problem has been in front of goal with the Grifoni having scored just 15 times in 21 games have struggled in front of goal with just 15 goals scored in 20 games this season.

Fortunately for Ballardini, his side have the third best defensive line in the competition behind Inter Milan and Sampdoria with 19 goals given away.
