Betis coach Pepe Mel feels his side have nothing to lose in their Copa del Rey clash with Barcelona, and that his team will show no fear against the Spanish champions.
The Sevilla club set up a tie with the Catalan giants courtesy of a superb victory over Getafe in the previous round, and speaking to the media today, Mel asserted that his players will go out and enjoy the occasion.
He remarked: “We cannot think about it, we cannot go there to defend. We will play football and we will enjoy it. They are the best team in the world, not only because of their tactics and how they attack, but also in their defence.
“Pep Guardiola is a phenomenon, a great coach, and we will treat the match as a good workout. We will have no fear because we do not go into matches thinking we are worse than anyone.”
“If we try to defend behind the ball, instead of losing 3-0, we could end up losing 7-0.”
