Ayr boss Brian Reid will be missing defender Jonathan Tiffoney through suspension for the visit of Dumbarton.
Reid will also have to cope without the injured pair of Dean Keenan and Bobby Donnelly with young striker Stephen Reynolds no longer available.
His loan period has ended and he has returned to St Johnstone.
Reid said: "Our pitch is good to go just now, however there is a -6 forecast for Ayr coming up and we have to hope that it does not put the game off as we really want a game.
"We have been strong at home recently and long may that continue."
Dumbarton have been handed a double boost as they go looking for their first away win of the season.
Striker Derek Carcary is fit again and St Johnstone youngster Johnny Lindsay has extended his loan stay at the club.
Trialist striker Pat Walker is included, although defender Ben Gordon misses out through suspension and Marc Gilhaney is also absent as he recovers from recent appendix surgery.
There is a doubt over Iain Chisholm, who has been suffering with flu and on-loan Motherwell forward Gary Smith has returned to Fir Park.
Sons interim boss Allan Adamson said: "It would be great to start the New Year with a win but I appreciate that it will come about by Dumbarton playing at their very best."
