Manchester City are believed to have put forward an offer of £21 million to Benfica to acquire the services of defender David Luiz.
Roberto Mancini is said to be keen to bolster his defensive ranks, having seen his City side concede at least one goal in six of their last seven games in all competitions.
Reports linking the highly coveted Luiz with a move to England have been common place, with the defender having previously been linked with a move to the blue half of Manchester, with Chelsea also thought to be interested.
Now Abola.pt reports that City have tabled a £21m bid to prise the Brazil international away from the Portuguese club.
Luiz has taken some criticism after a series of indifferent performances for Benfica this season, and has also rejected the chance to extend his stay at the Lisbon-based club.
