FC Copenhagen vs Panathinaikos preview - Ferreira: Pride at stake

Panathinaikos coach Jesualdo Ferreira has warned FC Copenhagen they will not be given an easy ride.

Pana are out of contention at the bottom of Champions League Group D and cannot even qualify for the consolation prize of the Europa League.

FCK have fared much better and go into the final match in the pool in second place, a point ahead of Rubin Kazan who face a daunting trip to Barcelona.

A win would make absolutely certain of a place in the next phase for Stale Solbakken's men but Ferreira is adamant Pana will fight all the way.

He said: "A Greek team has never finished last in a Champions League group with only two points and we must do our absolute best to ensure that is not going to happen this year.

"We have professional pride and will be fighting all the way for victory in Copenhagen.

"And last, but not least, there is a lot of money at stake."

The rewards on offer are even greater for the home side as a win would lead to a lucrative last-16 clash against one of Europe's big guns.

And midfielder Claudemir admits the pressure is on.

"I think it's the biggest game of my career, and not just for me but for the whole team here," he said.

"(But) we have the ability and our aim is to qualify for the next round, and we know that depends on us and no one else. We have a good chance of winning and getting through to the next phase."

The Brazilian is expecting a tough test against Pana despite their poor points tally.

"It's another difficult game," he told www.uefa.com.

"We know a bit about them having played them at their place, but we can't assume it'll be an easy match just because they are last in the group. We know we have the potential as we're a good team as well. We know we can get a good result."

As for Rubin's clash, he added: "Obviously Barcelona are favourites in any contest they're involved in, but we can't think about that game.

"I'm sure the fans will be watching our game and listening to the other [on the radio], but we players have to stay focused on our match."
