LONDON (AP)—Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti says John Terry will miss England’s friendly against France on Wednesday because of a back injury.
The center back was ruled out of Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunday because of the problem.
Ancelotti says Terry “is not able to play for England.”
The Italian manager says he hopes Terry will be fit to play in Chelsea’s next league match, at Birmingham on Saturday.
Terry’s absence means England captain Rio Ferdinand is likely to be partnered by Phil Jagielka in central defense against France at Wembley.
