Serie A players insist strike will go ahead

Serie A players will announce the date of their strike on 30 November.
Serie A players have announced that they will go on strike, following a breakdown in negotiations between the Lega Calcio and the players' union over a new collective bargaining agreement, despite efforts by the national FA, the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC). The Associazione Italiana Calciatori (AIC) will announce the date of strike action on 30 November.
A statement said: "The Serie A players have taken into consideration the approach shown by the Lega, who have turned down the proposal of the FIGC president, Giancarlo Abete, which is also shared by the AIC, to limit to just six points the negotiations of the Collective Agreement, with the exclusion of two other points (players out of squad and forced transfers), which from the start were not accepted by AIC.
"Through their representatives, they have therefore announced the decision to not go out on the pitch in one of the next round of games as a sign of protest. The AIC will wait until 30 November to announce the date of strike action."
Serie A players had threatened to strike in September, in the hope of renewing the collective bargaining agreement that had expired in June. The strike was called off after the Italian Football Federation acted as mediators.
