One goal enough for Airdrie

An even game was settled with a solitary late goal as Airdrie saw off Stenhousemuir 1-0 at New Broomfield.
The teams were side-by-side in the Division Two table, with Airdrie now five points clear of their visitors, despite this being their first home win of the season.
The first half lacked any real incident with each side creating one half-chance each to speak of, Anthony Watt going close for Airdrie before a Stephen Murray effort for Stenhousemuir less than a minute later.
The game did not improve after the interval and neither side came close until the 70th minute when Jamie Bain forced a fine save from Chris McCluskey in the visitors' goal.
But McCluskey could do nothing about Bain's effort two minutes later when he thrashed home a fantastic effort from the edge of the penalty area to wrap up the three points for Jimmy Boyle's men.
