Report: Inter Youngster Davide Santon Set For First Start Of The Season Against Genoa
Posted Saturday, October 30, 2010 by YAHOO Sport
Davide Santon may start his first game of the season for Inter on Friday evening against Genoa, according to sport.it.
The full-back has made a series of appearances off the bench in Serie A and the Champions League, but has yet to be given a start by coach Rafael Benitez from the first whistle after spending a majority of the previous season on the sidelines due to injury.
The highly-rated starlet is the favourite to fill in for Cristian Chivu, who picked up an injury in the 1-1 draw with Sampdoria on Sunday. Veteran Ivan Cordoba is also a possibility, but the player is not a natural full-back like Santon.
Meanwhile, striker Diego Milito could make a second-half appearance against his former club after being called up for the first time since the October 3 tie with Juventus.
The Nerazzurri sit in third place in Serie A with 15 points from eight matches.
Probable Inter starting XI (4-2-3-1): Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Santon; Zanetti, Cambiasso; Pandev, Sneijder, Coutinho; Eto'o.
