PARIS (AP)—The French soccer federation is hosting a two-day forum to explore modernizing the game’s infrastructure and economy.
France’s image took a hit when players staged a strike at practice during the World Cup in South Africa. That was followed by a first-round exit under former coach Raymond Domenech.
The French Football Federation calls this an opportunity “to prepare the future,” after the “events of the last few months highlighted the necessary reforms in the way” French soccer is governed.
President Nicolas Sarkozy, former players and new coach Laurent Blanc were critical of the team’s behavior at the World Cup.
