Ayr float into play-off zone

Ayr moved into the Second Division play-off spots with a 2-1 home win over Alloa.
Mark Roberts gave Ayr the lead in the 36th minute when he latched onto a Willie Easton pass and fired past goalkeeper Steve Robertson from 12 yards.
Alloa had to wait until the 75th minute for their chance and it came from the penalty spot when Michael Dunlop was hacked down by Ebbie Malone inside the box.
Kevin McDonald stepped up and confidently dispatched the penalty for 1-1.
However, Alloa midfielder John Grant inadvertently sent the ball past his own keeper in the 83rd minute to put Ayr back in front and ensure they claimed all three points.
