Landon Donovan, the United States forward who spent three months on loan at Everton last season, says he is keen on a return to Goodison Park but is uncertain over whether a loan move back to Merseyside will materialise in January.

The forward scored two goals in 10 appearances for Everton during his short stay in the Premier League last season and still holds the club in high regard.

The 28 year-old Los Angeles Galaxy captain has said that whilst he harbours hopes to play for David Moyes side once again, he's not sure when he'll get the opportunity.

"It would be hard to say no" Donovan told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I really hope that, if it's not this year, I get to go back there and play again. But if you asked me now I would lean towards a little more uncertainty.

"It's hard for me to say as I've had a really long year. But we'll see after a few week's rest and we'll see how it goes."

Donovan jumped at the chance to join the Toffees ten months ago, but says that a lack of rest during the MLS close season is a reason for his hesitation.

"Last time when David Moyes called I was extremely excited about it and I just have to make sure that I get the appropriate rest," said Donovan.

"The last thing you want is to go somewhere when you're not 100 per cent.

"You're then not only failing the club, but you're failing yourself as well.

"When I was there I felt loved and accepted and I think they appreciate the way I play."
