Report: Real Madrid Paid Raul & Guti To Leave The Club
Posted Saturday, September 25, 2010 by
Former Real Madrid stars Raul and Guti were paid to leave the club to make room for new players, according to Sport.es.
Both men were sacrificed by new coach Jose Mourinho, who deemed them surplus to requirements when he shaped his squad together in the summer.
The Portuguese's detailed concern with planning and provisioning forced the club to oust the players.
Madrid paid €16 million to ensure Raul and Guti left to allow Mourinho space to throw off his yoke.
Florentino Perez paid €11.6m to get rid of Raul, who has legendary status at the club, and €4.5m for Guti who joined Turkish side Besiktas.
